| Heritage.
What are we truely? Are we pale offspring of our parents, or something more, a new destiny forged by the power of the gods with some
similarities to both the divine and our parents?
As a child, when taught the importance of family ties, at a time when
you were dependent on them for everything it is easy to think the
former. Always striving to be like your seemingly unerring father,
always not quite meeting thier standards.In adolesence more focus shift to your own being and own goals develop albeit molded from your upbringing.
Sometimes a time of rebellion, I never had the opportunity for such
selfish acts, constantly taught the family future would depend on my
shoulders.
Is it odd then that when the second change of magical puberty if you will, came and everything changed that I rebelled for a time?
Doubts about my suitability as the Lord of my house, emerged as my
newfound power carried our horrible family secret, and my parents
attention shifted to my little brother.
I was sent away and for a while didnt have to put my family first.
While I did and said things I later regretted, it was still a time where
I finally became a man of my own. The power scared me and honestly
still does, but if I can learn to control it it will be my strongest
ally.
Now a few years later, I have made my peace with my family again.
Perhaps I am more then just my parents child, but even if it currently
looks unlikely that I will take my fathers place and they are far away, I
am once again striving to secure the family future.
Maybe one day I can return with new power harnessed and reclaim my place
beside my brother or is it my destiny to circle around in the
peripheria like a cold lonely moon?
Lord Sircadian "Snow" Cassius II is my PC in a DnD pen and paper game that recently started.
His family built their reputation from their dragonslaying founding mother Lady Isla Cassius long ago.
In reality she didnt slay that fierce white dragon though, but made deals with it and even mated with it!
That secret will always be on Sircadians shoulders now that his power emerged.
