Shaundakul Lockbox - what's inside?

With the Maze Engine module a new lockbox has seen the light of day so it’s time to take a first peek inside.

The armored Griffon is obviously a coveted mount that would be just sooo nice to get our
hands on. But we have to assume that the chance to actually get it is again
abysmally small – probably somewhere around the 0.1% for the really good stuff
of the older lockboxes. The chances for insignia packs are also quite small, if
you get one they contain one purple and two blue insignia of the appropriate
type.

But let’s take a look instead at what you will usually get out of a Shaundakul lockbox. The last column lists the chance to get the corresponding pack from the New Life lockbox.

The Profession Master Pack and the Companion AugmentationPack are unchanged from New Life. The enchantment and artifact pack have their equivalent in New Life and will be compared below. The Wanderer’s Artifact Weapon Pack has replaced the Black Ice Master Pack.

* Since I have opened only about 100 Shaundakul lockboxes I have not had the chance to open 100 of each pack therein. So for purposes of comparison, I have scaled the results to 100 boxes opened.

The artifact pack gives a chance at an artifact (equipment) plus a lot of refining stuff. There’s some precious gems hidden in the Shaundakul pack while the Grazilaxx had significantly more lesser refining stuff. Grazzilaxx uses up more inventory space but otherwise they are of approximately the same value in my book. The clincher are the cubes of Augmentation that have been moved to another box in Shaundakul, so advantage New Life.

Different enchantments in the two boxes, but otherwisethey are pretty much alike.

This is the fifth “common” pack that can drop from those boxes and they are wildly
different, so you will have to pick the one that you think you will most
benefit from. If you actually need those greater marks then Shaundakul may be
the way to go. On the other hand if you need to do some more black ice refining
you have a decent chance to get purple assets from the New Life box. The few Cubes
of Augmentation here pale in comparison with the 188 above.

In the end, everybody needs to decide for themselves what they need, but I won’t be opening
any Shaundakul lockboxes anytime soon.

Cheers, Pandora

However, the Shaundakul lockboxes have a (small) chance for a mount pack the new life doesn't offer, although the mounts inside them aren't very good, they drop insignia's aswell, that could make it worth opening them (but as always, pray to the Gods of RNG)
