| Hi Dragons,
I have opened a number of older and newer lockboxes, including the most recent New Life Lockbox and compiled the results, which I want to share with you here.
Generally, newer boxes tend to give better rewards, which is understandable since people tend to have better gear and expect better results from the zen they spend on opening a box. One of the more prominent examples is that starting with Howling Hatred the Enchantment box you get contains either a SMOP or a GMOP while until then it was a GMOP or a MOP.
The chance to get something amazing is abysmally small, so this overview is not intended for those who absolutely need that one item that only lockbox xy is going to give since you will be opening that lockbox anyway. But to give those who don't rely on that elusive 0,1% chance some idea what they are likely to get out of any given lockbox they open.
Overall, all older lockboxes including the elemental evil boxes are not really worth opening any more. Enchantment Packs, Companion Packs and Profession Packs (the most commong ones) are just that much better in the new Glorious Resurgence and New Life lockboxes, quite a lot better in the NL actually even than in GR.
Still, between those two it is a matter of what you expect to get out of your box. The common stuff (what you will get 95% of the time) is better and worth more from the New Life Lockbox. On the other hand, even if you do get purple rares from that box it still feels kind of "meh" while the really rare stuff from Glorious Resurgence is very much "yay". Those rares also are expensive, so the total average worth of the Glorious Resurgence is higher than the New Life Lockbox. But if you only look at what you will get most of the time (95-99%) the New Life Lockbox will net you a higher AD price.
Ok, enough talk, let's have some data:
